Hey guys i was just curious could if somebody tell me the location off the High pressure oil pump. A pic with the highlighted location or a good description telling me where it is. I think I might have a leak coming from there trying to narrow it down. Thanks again for any help you can provide me.
It's directly under the fuel filter bowl. You'll be able to see the HP oil lines coming from each head connecting to it on the driver's side of the pump.
Mmmm maybe its not leaking there. I have a leak that is coming from the back off the motor not the front. Are there any common leaks that these trucks are noted for.. Just trying to fugure it out. Thanks for the relpy.
The back of the motor is where the turbo pedestal leaks from. Could be the EBPV actuator arm, the pedestal to block connection, or the turbo to pedestal connection.
A lot of us have had leaks. There should be alot of threads that will tell you about them.
Like Joe said there are a few places to leak from but they can usually be fixed fairly easy once you find it.
Yeh my search function doesnt work so I cant look back at previous threads. Otherwise i would probably find my answer. Sorry if I this bothers anybody. Just trying to find some .answers.
At first glance, I thought I had a leak at the rear of the engine also. I just kept an eye on it until it got worse. After a 600 mile trip hauling a thousand pounds of parts in the bed....it got worse! From what I've learned HERE, that pressure that pump makes is somewhere between 500-3800 psi. In other words, this may have been the reason it got really worse after hauling allot of weight and flying up the mountains going bak home.
Anyway, after checking for half an hour, I found out that the "non-servicable plug" was leaking and the oil was running on the intake valley.....to the back of the motor. I narrowed it down with the help of a small telescopic mirror up under the plug to see the leak.
Just did the HPOP reseal job and accidentally broke a fitting when I was minutes from finishing the job. I took lots of pictures and plan on doing an article on this job.
OK Joel. Heres the best way I know of to find a leak. (Do not spray high pressure water) Spray the valley and motor with simple green and let it soak for a little. Rinse it out good with medium flow water hose. (Repeat). After you have it pretty clean down in the valley and around the turbo pedestal area. Make sure its all dry. Start the engine and run a little shut it off and then get some good lights and check it all over and see if you can tell were the leak is coming from. Check the turbo and pedestal real good thats were a lot of leaks are from. Once you find it you should be able to fix it, just let us know and we can help.
I had exactly the same problem 4 weeks ago and was able to fix it with little work. Don't let the dealer tell you the "non-serviceable" plug means you have to replace the pump. Study the threads and advice here and you can fix this problem. It was really quite easy.
If any off you guys have any tips or advice on what American Air-1 said. Im open for anything. That sounds like exactly the leak i have in the intake valley at the back off the motor. Id like to to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thanks guys.
