Just thought I'd tell ya'll I had to replace another o ring (hpop) and also did the in tank mods, and new boots all around this week end.
But on to the story, I stopped over at Harbor Freight to replace my extention mirror (a freind I made last time) and found a new friend-a 14" long bendable flex super bright LED light! I'm telling you THATS the way to spot a leak. You can even see around corners(Dirty Harry Style) I even found the drain hole in the Valley with it. Now I wont leave home without it!
Oh the other new friend is an 3/8 air ratchet.(thats the kind of friend I dont tell my wife about).
So John is the HPOP O ring an easy fix. Thinking I might have that same problem. Im having a slow oil leak right in back off the motor. Going to have to take a look an see where its coming from. Sounds like that flexible light could come in handy.
I haven't removed the hpop yet, only replced the orings on the hose coupler connection at th hpop. Super easy after its all done, once you figure out how the quick connect coupler works. The one thing I had trouble with was the 'inside' oring. On my truck I have a hard plastic oring right next to the rubber o ring, I carelessly pulled them both out at the same time. It went back in eventually but I really got frazzld worring about it.
I had a slow leak up front and at the back. The back one was the spider boots -all worn and loose. when you get your light it'll be easy to see. Wish I could connect a camera to it!

In my opinion, a small telescopic mirror is a major plus in finding these oil leaks. For $2-$3 I spent at O'Reillys...it was the cats behind finding the leak!
I was able to find my leak without it, but if it really gives you a hard time, I have a ultraviolet leak detection light you can borrow. We could get the stuff for diesel oil(would need plenty of it for all that oil) and shine this light on it.....there will be no question where the leak is coming from!
BTW, I used to do allot of a/c work years back and would put a shot of the UV die in every a/c I worked on. If the car ever came back, it was a piece of cake to find the problem.
