First post, I need some advice. I just bought an 02 F150 with the 4.6 in it. Its got 130K on it. The evening a picked it up the service light went on. I of course had the boys at the shop run it on the diagnostic to get the code, and it told me #4 missfire. I had noticed a studdering during my test drive, but now after driving it for a week it definitely has a studder to it. Mostly went you are coasting and barely on the throttle then get back on it to pass ont he highway or something like that. Give it enough throttle and it goes away.
So I have two questions, first, I think it is an electrical issue right? Plugs, ignition coil something like that. Second I bought this from a used car dealer. Am I screwed cause I have more than 100K on it or can I make the dealer fix it at their cost? Any advice would be appreciated.
look at the rear plug on the pasenger side. I think this motor has COPS? PUll the coil off and see if there is antifreeze or water setting on the spark plug and shorting it out. Blow out. See if hte COP plug wire is bloated and swelled. See if the heater hose in this area is dripping antifreeze onto the plug.
