I just recently purchased a 95' F350 4x4 and my front parking brake cable was broken right at the pedal assembly. I installed the new cable and there is not enough play in it to get it hooked into the bracket that the 2 cables going to the brakes fit into. I pulled the dual cable bracket to the point my rear brakes were locked and its still about an inch too short. What is the problem? The pedal is all the way up against the roller stop and the cable wraps around the top of the pedal assembly in the little track it rides in down through the floor. Any ideas would be great.
Can you back off on the slack adjusters (I'm sure it's called something else) to decrease the pressure? The adjustment screw is towards the bottom on the outside of the drums.
That should allow you to pull the cable on without the parking brake engaging until it is depressed.

Are you talking about the drum adjusters for the brakes?
First I adjust the rear braked adjusters till they stop, and there is essentially there is no rear brakes, that gives additional cable slack, then there is some play available in the front cable from the pedal too where it is simply under spring tension, I took the cable and pulled it as far out as I could front the front and put a vice grip on it where it goes through the body mount and held it with the vice grip, then pulled the dual end for the parking brakes forward and used the combination of slack from the 2 connecton point to connect them then removed the vice grips and adjusted the rear brakes to the proper contact tension. that proper contact with the rear shoes for rotational drag will stop the truck, as well adjust the parking brake to hold.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I did. Not the best system I have ever seen but I guess it works. Thanks for the help.
