When youurn the key to run do you hear the injectors making a clicking noise. Is it loud and noticeable or is it low and muffled, or no noise at all. This sounds just like what happened to me when my FICM went out.
What year, how many miles and have you had the latest flash. With the cold wether comming I would also make sure your batteries and alt. are up to the task. When my FICM went out I had previously replaced my batteries...a day late and a dollar short.
Just some food for thought. There were alot of these that went bad in the last few years, especially on the 05-06 trucks it seemed.
Hope that helps a little for the "Tech". And yes I am a tech too and these things arent always black and white. Give him/her a chance to make it right.
I really appreciate all the input..lots of good stuff....especially from the "techs"! My apologies for painting the world of Ford techs with the same brush..my bad experiences with one outfit doesn't justify my over-all contempt. My head is hung low.
Tks for all the help...Let you all know this Wednesday the results after she goes th the garage.
Are you supposed to hear the injectors? Is that related to what flash you have?
Just wondering I do hear mine but the way you asked made me wonder if they all do that.
Thanks.
I think it depends on the flash you have. The latest flash you will hear the injectors before the glow plug light goes out. Some with the later flashes you will hear it when the truck shuts down thats the Buzz flash I think.
My buzz when I turn the key to start, What's the idea behind the flash that cycles them on shut down. I've never had any problems with mine so I'm not thinking of a re-flash. Just curious..
If you hear the injectors "rattling" when you shut the truck off you have the buzz flash. It's NOT the latest flash. If you have the inductive heat flash you may or may not hear anything. The inductive heat flash warms the oil in the spool valves in the injectors when you turn the key on to start the truck. It's supposed to help prevent injector stiction.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought about it much before I got involved in this thread. Mine buzz when I first turn the key.
Yes they will charge you. if you still have warranty you may be able to get it covered by telling them it starts hard when cold. But I think the 100.00 for the new flash is welll worth the money.
Note though the Inductive heating flash is hard on the FICM so make sure your batteries and charging system is up to par or you may be replacing the FICM too, which you may need to replace after a while anyway.
How can I tell if I have the latest flash other then the injectors noise?
If I got the numbers or code to the flash I am running can someone let me know?
