its not a bad job i just done it yesterday didnt take real long, i had a huge pair of channel locks that i used to get the fan off, it has left hand threads so it loosens the way you would normally tighten a nut, you have to take the bracket off that holds the alternator but you dont have to take the alternator off, you have to take the a/c compressor off if the truck has it and take the power steering loose, then its just a matter of taking the pulley bolts out and getting the pulley off mine was hard to get off cause it been on there for 23 years, a good sized rubber hammer fixed that, then just take all the water pump bolts out pull the pump off clean the surface area really good! make sure there is no old gasket left on the block, smear some good rtv silicone all on the gasket area on the block and the water pump and bolt her back up and your good to go
ok.. so how did you get the pulley to stay still while u used the channel locks to take the fan off???
Autozone rents a tool for that. It comes with a big wrench looking thing and a smaller one. You put the big piece over the bolt on the pulley and the the smaller one will loosen the fan. Make sure you are turning the right way since it is left hand thread.
