I put new brakes on the back of my 2001 Ford F150 a couple of weeks ago and today I put brakes on the front of the truck. I went for a ride and the ABS Light comes on when I apply the brake. Any suggestions what might be causing the light to come on when I use the brakes. The light went off when I put the brakes on the rear for a little while. I figured after I put the brakes on the front today that would solve the problem, but no such luck. The light doesn't come on every time I step on the brake. When I shut off the truck it cancels the light and at some point the light comes back on again.
My wife's 03 Explorer ABS light would periodically come on and go off and it turned out to be the speed sensor. Not sure if the 2001 F-150 even has a speed sensor, but it's a thought.
if its the sensor it will come on "sometime" when you are driving. if it only comes on when you push on the brake, it might be related to that. You had the light before the brake job?
Thanks for responding. I didn't see the sensors on the front end yesterday, but that certainly could be the problem. The ABS Light began lighting up before I did the rear brakes and since doing the back and now the front.
Maybe I'll take a closer look for the sensors and see if they are functioning correctly.
