Brakes locking up

Brakes locking up
1992 Ford F-150 5.0L automatic
first incident happened around the fall of last year, the brake light and the ABS light came on, I pulled it over and the back brakes were smoking. I shut it off, turned it back on, lights were off and stayed off, vehicle drove ok.
The brake light and the ABS light will still come on now and then, but not every day, not every drive, just seems to do it when it's warm or been driven for a while, and not every time does the brakes seem to partially seize.
Coming down the interstate the other day, I noticed a shutter, kinda felt like maybe my front end was out, no brake lights or anything.
Next day, driving across town, vehicle is shuttering really bad, Brake light and ABS light came on, I pull it over, can smell the rear brakes, shut it off, leave it, turn it back on, get going, same thing over and over for a few times. Finally got it to a location out of traffic, left it for a while, came back, started up, no codes, drove it home, no shutter.
The shutter just started and isn't present all the time, for example, I drove it today, no problems, no brake light, no ABS light, no smell coming from the brakes, no shutter.
This is a secondary vehicle but being used as a daily driver right now until primary vehicle is fixed.
Where would be a good place to start looking?

Pull the rear drums off, inspect for signs of broken pieces. The ABS and Brake light are trying to tell you something....

I'm not sure what all is involved with the ABS system or how that integrates into the brake system, is there something common that would cause both rear brakes to not release? The brakes are not locking up completely, it seems they simply do not release all the way and then the brake lights come on.
I've taken the rear drums off before, I'm not seeing anything jumping out that's obvious. Is there a way to disengage the ABS system?
