what am I missing guys? Just put a used trans that came out of a running car. reverse works but no forward gears! It worked properly in the car it came out of. Is there some kind of adjustment needed? Tv cable not installed right? The only thing I know I didnt get right was the shifter cable. It doesnt engage park. reverse is in the right spot as per the shift indicator, the reverse lights, and the ability to go in reverse. Nuetral seems right, and the forward gears they line up with the shift indicator. I cant get it far enough into park, to actually engage as per the shift indicator and the interior lever. Put it into the "park notch" and the rverse lights are still on, and it doesnt seem real firm. The other thing I have noticed, I was able to push the car forward and back in Park. Please tell me there is some simple adjustment I am missing, and dont have to start all over. it was a long extended weekend. Thanks Dan
Just did a search, and came up with another question. Could I have reconnected that arm the tv cable attaches to wrong, with the aforementioned problem???? I hooked it up where it looked natural, but I guess it could be upside down maybe???
I know its been a while since you posted this but i didnt see any more responses. i just put in a new to me AOD and it engages reverse smoothly but unless i rev it way up i wont go forward. i was hoping you figured it out and remembered what the fix was.

Hey Stephen,
I have never installed an AOD, but someday I would like to. So I am not claiming to be an expert here. But I have been trying to study over what might be needed. And over the years have read many posts about this. Are you using a TV cable? It needs to be attached to your carburetor throttle lever, WITH if using a Holley (and probably others) a special TV corrector lever or bracket. Evidently you got to have that corrector bracket to get the cable pulling geometry correct. Then It's very important for the life of the transmission that the TV cable needs to move on a exact one to one relationship between the TV corrector bracket/throttle lever on the carburetor, and the TV lever on the transmission. I have seen many posts talk about simply opening up the carburetor to wide open, and then making sure your TV cable is adjusted tight enough that the transmission end of the cable is pulling the TV lever up as far as it goes. So wide open carb/wide open TV cable lever back at the transmission. There are also some transmission fluid pressure measurements that should be checked while doing this. If you go to the Lokar web site, and look at AOD TV cable kits, you can look at the directions and they will give you a great proceedure to follow. For the life of your transmission, make sure your TV cable is connected to your carburetor correctly, and it's adjusted correctly.
Hope it goes well for you!
