I just bought a 91 F150 with the 302 and the AOD transmission. It seems to sift up through the gears fine but when it downshifts, it jerks then continues thru the gears. I've replace the fluid and filter but the problem is still there. Any ideas?
Ck the sensor in the rear end and the wireing. Just guessing

the aod doesn't have a shift control sensor, or any wiring other than a reverse light and neutral saftey switch.
the shifting feel can be adjusted by the throttle position cable on the side of the throttle body. this is the only thing that controls the shift in a aod.
but be warned if its done improperly, it will TOAST the trans in a matter of minutes, it won't shift out of first and will burn it up.
your supposed to hook a tV pressure gauge up to each of the smal square head fittings on the right side of the tranny. There should be 3 of em near the tailshaft housing. Get a book that tells you the specifics. I think there's supposed to be 0-3 psi of pressure at idle when in gear and not moving. Then you idle it up and check pressre again and move to differnt fittings etc. I'm not exactly sure what next so get a book that tells you.
