doesn't sound good but I'm no expert on early Broncos. I'm sure someone else will help you.

Have you checked the fluid levels? Pulled the codes? That would be the first thing to try.

Um, is the engine running backwards? Yeah, MOVIN at all in either of the NON-moving gears (Park/Neutral) is a problem. Are you certain you haven't suffered some sort of linkage failure? Will it go into Park and will the parking pawl engage?

AOD trans shifts by the throttle linkage. ford sold the better idea to GM (using vaccume to shift the gears) any how, this linkage looses its adjustment (just the slightest) or you loose that nylon clip that holds it together it only takes acouple miles to cook the clutches! smell the dipstick, AOD trans are junk because of this.

They have a better service record than the E4OD! And being a direct descendent of the C4 I tend to disagree with the notion that they are junk.

factory, your clutches are fused together, melted, cooked! lucky it even starts in park! i've seen this a bazillion time out in the mud and trails, literally drug people outta mud holes because they had no neutral and couldnt get to the driveshaft to take it off. sorry dude but its dead. rebuild and get a new torque converter cause yer gonna have pieces of clutch everywhere. before you do anything smell the dipstick, you'll see it's cooked
