2001 7.3 starts for a sec then dies
Hi guys,
I didn't want my first post to be an in need one!! LOL. I purchased a 2001 7.3 CC Dually in Texas`about a month and a half ago and love it! My first diesel! I went out this morning to get some diesel (I was running late the other night and my low fuel light came on drove for about 10 miles) it started for a few seconds and died. My first thought was crap i'm out of diesel. Ran to the store grab 5 gallons and same thing. Runs for a second then dies. I had the CPS recall done prior picking up the truck. Put a new fuel filter 1 week ago, fresh oil change. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! I've really enjoyed and learned a tonne on here, great site!

You could probably open the drain on the fuel bowl, and turn the key to the run position for a second or 2 to rinse any her out a bit, try starting again after waiting for the plugs...
If you ran it right out, I'm pretty sure the lift pump could get damaged if you left it in the on position too long, hopefully not...

I have the same problem but I hae a full tank of fuel so I don't belive its a fuel issue. I will start run rough and then die after about 5 tries it runs fine. I turned it off in the drive thru so I could hear to make an order and it took 9 tries before it started and run. I just had the truck in the shop for a recall on the CPS could it be bad allready? Is there different ones? Newer better or aftermarket? Help

Try starting your own thread, for starters. Be sure to tell us what year/model/mileage your truck is/has.
I would drain the fuel bowl by turning the yellow lever behind it. Then turn the key to the on position, but do not start the motor. If fuel pours out of the fuel bowl into your drain bucket, then you are getting fuel.
I imagine it could be a CPS issue. Did you get your truck back from the shop yet?
