That's what I thought. I have an aluminum banks intake elbow, but I didn't want to tap it; lazy-me. I wish they did their homework the way Mag-Hytek did theirs, with a monitor port built in ready to go.
I know someone else did this. I was wondering what size hole/tap/threads and connection? I'll go to the local McFadden Dale hardware and get the stuff I need. They have everything.
cartmanea, Good ideas must be recycled; Thanks. I do copy smart implementations.
I don't tow often, but there are a lot of mods on this truck; Safe is better than sorry. I'm and RF/Electrical Engineer and love to monitor all facets of the engine.
I'm still figuring out how to install trans/oil/h20 coolant temp gauges, along with a voltmeter and maybe a current meter, oil & fuel pressure, too. I am trying to design something that sits on the dash, above the factory gauge console, so I can easily see all of them. And my grip handle is not coming out for a 4-pod stack, I need it to get in.
I also have an OBDII Scan Gauge (by linear logic), which is kind of cool, 'cause it shows any 4 digital parameters in the truck computer. I like to see (1) intake air temp, (2) Boost (digital from OBDII), (3) h20 temp, (4) MPG. I can change those for any of 16 parameters that the computer will give, or you can program your own. It's cool to see what the computer is seeing, although I would rather see actual analog info from the important system parameters.
Maybe I'll just take the whole stock gauge panel out and put my own in place. Any ideas?
cartmanea, thanks for the link. i couldn't find it in recent weeks. I kind-of like my white gauges, but I do really like the black matching gauges you installed. I'll have to rethink the other gauge installs before I purchase any more.
