I have a 2008 job 1 f350 4x4 srw 6.4L with just over 25k on it. At 12k took it in for coolent leak, it was the radiator, they put in a radiator and the by-pass kit. Now at 25k it is leaking. How many radiators do you have to replace in the lifetime of this truck? Should I buy a case of radiators and store them so I can have a quick replacement on hand?
(Sorry just had to vent before I blew my radiator).
Is there a fix for this or should I get rid of this truck.
Bought it new, love it; except for this damn radiator problem.
If anyone has a helping solution for this problem let me know?
Thanks!
Steve
When you bring it in this time they SHOULD check the T-stats also. There is an issue currently with the thermostats in these trucks not operating properly, and some even being broke inside the housings. Also might be an EGR cooler issue but that will show other signs of damage (white smoke out of exhaust to name one).
My '08 job 3 has had 3 radiators in it. The 1st one was around 12,000 miles, the second radiator did not make it off the dealers lot. The 3rd radiator now has 6,000 on it with no problems. I've had no other issues with my truck.
Got it back from the dealer today! I hope this one works. A fried of mine suggested evans waterless coolent, he said after converting over to the coolent you then drill a 1/16 hole in the cap (this allows ant water in the system to evaporate and no pressure on the system); However it is big money for the evans coolent. It sound like good stuff
Thank you everybody for your help!

that I would not do. Stick with the approved coolant and monitor is the best preventative tip.
