No one makes a cold air intake for our trucks. If you want one youll have to make it yourself. Its been on my to do list for a while.

turbodiesel123,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.

Hypermax still sells a cowl induction kit.
Other than that, make your own.

The hypermax kit involves cutting a hole in your firewall near the brake booster so it pulls cool air in from the cowl panel. One guy mentioned the kit dropped his EGT's by 300*. The kit isn't too expensive so I plan to try it out. If you go back a few pages, there was a thread about a member who installed one on his truck. He posted some pics so you can see it installed if you like.

The Hypermax Cowl Induction thread is here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...induction.html

The factory K motor induction was a cold air intake right over the driver side battery. I don't think it flows as well as the Hypermax piece, but it does have ram air fuctionality, even if it is a particularly good implementation of ram air.

Ultimately I want to run the factory cold air AND the Hypermax cowl induction, but I need to make a 4" 2 into 1 fitting to make that work.

Look at that small intake and think about moving 846 cubic feet of air through it every minute.

At 14 pounds of boost at 3300 RPM that is what you need to get through that little opening.

I wish I had the measurements of the opening, I know it is small and I am going to guess 1" x 8".

If 1" x 8" is correct, to get 846 cubic feet of air through the opening, the air velocity would have to be at least 86.7 MPH.

So if you are trying to pull a load up a hill in second gear at 3300 RPM, that intake is a big restriction since your speed is well under 87 MPH.

4" x 10" intake, 5 times the size.
So at any speed over 32 MPH, I have ram air at 3300 RPM and 15 PSI boost.
