$4500 for an IDI Turbo engine?

Someone in my area (on Craigs List) has a 94 IDI Turbo engine with transmission and transfer for sale and he is asking $4500. The engine has new injectors, IP, and turbo. No millage listed. Sounds a little high. Am I right?

About $3000 to high. Unless it has only 10000 actual miles and the seller can PROVE it.

Transmission and transfer case included.
Depending on what transmission and how many miles are on the engine that may or may not be a decent deal.

Find the mileage, a new motor from a chain store runs about $5k. You can usually find wasted trucks with low mileage reman motors for less than $2k. There's one on my CL right now with 30k miles going for $800, and thats a complete truck.

I just paid 600 dollars for a truck 2 days ago, there no way i would ever pay that much for a truck or engine, i would put that much into one to build me a hot rod but i would never buy a stock engine for that

If the transmission is an E4OD, how much would that cost?

Like most things, when you don't need one they can be found for cheap.
When you need one, the prices always seem to get much higher, and if you need one bad enough you will pay the price.
