Cold Air Intake Questions.....

When I bought The Cream Puff it has a filter hooked up but laying on the inside fender. I'm sure that's a risk of sucking in particles and it also look tacky and unfinished to me. What kind of cold air intake kits do you guys recommend?? I have only looked at one so far and about fell over when I saw the price.....S&B Cold Air intake kit $269.00.

That's where the one is on my truck. I went and test drove a 1997 ford just like mine on Saturday and it had the S&B system. I thought it looked nice but more than anything it got me wondering if it causes issues to just have a filter laying behind the battery.

6637 is what I use

S&B, Tymar or Fords AIS are other options

I have 70K on my 97 since I installed the 6637, which lays on the drivers side inner fender, behind the battery, with nothing but filter change about every 30K. Most of these miles were an gravel roads, and driving across pastures to care for my cattle. I have had no ill effects to my motor. This set up might not look the most appealing, but it filters the air better than the stock air boxes, and 200 percent better than the drop in K&N filters.

I had some plastic battery box lids laying around that I dropped my 6637 into. Kind of looks like a CAI box and keeps the filter mostly suspended.
