I've been thinking about putting a pair (or two) of fog/driving lights behind the grill of my '03 but have a couple of questions. Do you guys ever have any issues with the lights blocking airflow to the radiator or coolers? There's a guy in my town that has two pair of smaller lights instead of one big pair, it looks great but seems to be covering a lot of cooling fins. Will it work behind a stock grill? I'm going to get the black billet grill but need to get my truck painted first as it would look a little stupid having a black billiet grill on top of a stock grayish (whatever color it is) bumper. Is the stock grill too thick to let the light out the way it should?
I have a pair of 9" lights mounted in front of my grille and have no problems with cooling and live in la. where it is hot as heck. I don't think the lights would work very well behind the grille, how about the bottom of the front bumper?
Here is mine. I don't have any cooling problems. I have the lights on for 3 or 4 years now. I would think the the stock grille would block quite a bit of light.
Furian that first pic is exactly what I want to do but the second is kinda weird, looks like a UFO or something. I was thinking that too, 89', the stock grill will block a lot of light which would defeat the purpose. I guess I'll wait until the truck's ready for paint and a new grill. Nice truck BTW, I like those tires.
Thanks Shade. I've really liked the BFGs. I've had them for nearly 2 years now, I've been impressed with them.
villestrip, I used some scrap angle an channel I had in the garage. It bolts on to the header panel and comes out just under one of the cross bars on the stock grill. You can't see any of the bracket unless you get under the lights and really look.
