So I am installing a 2.5 leveling kit on my 02 f350 crew 7.3 diesel and was researching tires.Right now I have 285*75*16,they are 33 inch wide and they will barely rub my front mud flaps when lock to lock and suspension under load. Now after I install the leveling kit do you think a 35 inch tire {BFG m/t KM2 } 315*75*16 would be a problem?Im not sure the 2.5 inches upwards really makes a diff on front to back...But I really want to fill the wheel well more and 33s are lookin small to me now...
Well, you're not going any more taller than you are going wider. If they rub the mudflaps is it because they are too wide and rub when turning or too tall and rubbing. What I'm getting at is if you had a 33x10.5x16 tire would it rub? If you then went to a 35x10.5x16 would you rub? If you've got a 33x11.5x16 right now and go wider you're likely to rub even with a lift because you're likely rubbing do to the width moreso than the height, even lifted, because it probably doesn't put the mudflap outside of the width of the tire. You probably need a different offset wheel.
+2 on the above. im running the tires you want stock and my wheel wells are full. i rub on the driver spring at the rear and on the passenger front when i turn right. im also rubbing some plastic which wouldnt be a issue with a levelling kit but other than getting spacers i will still be rubbing the springs lift or not

Well I guess 35 are out.. Damn!!! When you say different offset wheel you mean new rims? Im kinda familiar with what offset means but not really.
Offset or backspacing would put the wheel/tire out a little farther. I personally don't like the look, but a lot of people do. The distance between the bumper and the fender (bumper to just in front of the front of the door/fender) doesn't change much when you lift the vehicle. Actually it doesn't change at all, but raising it changes it relative to the front and rear of the tire, which helps when you go to a taller tire. Problem is also the width of a tire relative to the bumper/inner fender when turning. So, even if a tire height didn't change you'll have less clearance with a wider tire when turning. If you get a taller AND wider tire you've got two things working against you, the height when the wheels are straight relative to the bumper/fender clearance, then the clearance on the inner fender due to the width of the tire. If you get a wheel/rim with a different offset you can move where it might otherwise rub when you're turning. It might hit the leaf spring, or it might hit the inner fender and it'll do it based on both height and width, so it's something you have to look at in more than one dimension...like in the twilight zone.

Do you have 16 inch rims?Im told the 16 inch rims I have are probably 7 inch wide and cant take a 35 inch tire. I have a buddy who has pro comp extreme mt and has a 35 thats only 11.5 wide instaed of 11.5.I have a 11.5 now with 33 inch tires. I wonder if they are too tall for the rim though...
Rim/wheel width is relative to the tire width, not the height. You can put a 33, 35, 37 inch tire on a 15, 16, 17+ inch tall wheel depending on the wheel width. If I were putting a 12.5" tire on a wheel I'd want the wheel to be 8+" wide. I have 17" wheels, 17x7 or 7.5" (I don't remember). I'd want a 35x11.5x17 tire on my wheels and would want a 8" or wider wheel if I had a wider tire. Can it be done, a 12.5" or wider tire on a narrow wheel, probably. Most manufacturers state on what width wheel their tires are recommended. Some shops won't install them on different sized wheels, some will.
I have about the same truck you do. I have a 2" leveling kit and I am running 315/75/16's But they are on a 10" wide rim. I would never put 12.5" tire on a 7 " rim especially if you haul anything. They will bulge out like no tomorrow, an your tries will wear horribly.
If you want to run 315's get some either 9 or 10" wide rims.
they need to be 4.5" backspacing, and everything will fit just fine.
