So i got a great deal on a set of bed rails.....and need to put them on. My lariat of course has no stake pocket cut outs....so i need to take the bed caps off and cut them out.....anyone know how the bed rail caps come off???
glad you received your bed rails...
as far as the bed caps go, if you try to take them off with out breaking any clips, make sure you try this on a warm day whe the plastic is nice and warm. start from the tail gate and work towards the cab. take your time. when i took them off mine to replace them it was cold and only broke one clip.
they are not to expensive to replace i paid around $55.00 for the pair with my dealer discount. i would expect you would pay around $75.00 without a discount.
good luck!
I think I gave either 45 or 65 for a 6.5' one two years ago. Mine was scratched so I replaced it and tried to learn how to do it without snapping the molded plastic clip. I did it on a warm day, in direct sunlight And I kept my hot water hose handy. yes, I got wet but I ran water down the top, worked a few up, more water, got a few more. a shot of wd-4o or the like helps A Lot. after you get it started, spray the underside so that it drips down toward the next clips. I think there were about 12 clips in 6.5'. rear bumper step pads come off the same way.
1st off.....a big shout out to helix360....thanks a bunch for the rails....
2nd....maybe i'll just cut them out from the top...i guess i'll have no real reason to ever take the rails off so you'll never see the cut out anyhow....
I hear all this talk about the Lincoln bed rails. What's so special about them? Anyone have a pic of a set on their truck vs the stock F150 rails? Just wanna know what all the hype is about?
I gotcha....not my taste considering I bought my FX4 to eliminate the chrome, but I can see how they might be apealing to someone with a Lariat or the like, with an abundance of it on their vehicle.
