289 HiPo exhaust manifolds?

Will 289 HiPo exhaust manifolds work on a 302 engine in a 73-79 engine compartment? Has anyone used them? Thanks

There is s ton of room on the engine compartment of these trucks. You can run just about anything that you want. EB owners use these manifolds but have not found much of a gain with them. Matter of fact, most Small block owners use a similar manifold and those came on 350W engines. Almost identical in flow to the hi po SB manifolds.
Those manifolds bring some decent money from mustang guys.
Why not sell them and install a quality set of headers? More power to be made with them.
Surely you are not after a restoration type thing, since these trucks never had thismanifold, so I assume that some additional flow is the desire.
That being said, you cant beat the flow of a properly designed header.
heak even a poorly designed header will flow better than just about any manifold.

Thanks 75F350, I've never had headers before, and have heard that they can be a problem because of leaking. I do like the hedman elite headers.

The main reason headers leak is because of thin flanges. Some headers (cheap ones) use a flange that is 1/4" thick. The thicker (and more expensive) headers use at least 3/8" thick (L&L on their 460 swap headers use 1/2" !).
The thicker and quiter, the better.

When headers are concerned, you get what you pay for. I use thick flange headers and I dont have any problems with leaks. I also use reasonably cheap gaskets. A good sealing surface goes a long way.
