Yes, that's from the Ford Service DVD. The same info is available from alldatadiy.com for an annual subscription. They're one of our sponsors up in the SuperDuty section.
Thanks for the info.

If i remember correctly, I think you shoudl be able to just hook the VSS wire to ground and the DVD function will work whether the vehicle is moving or not. Thats how many get around that safety feature.

Good info. It's a Pioneer AVIC d3, so I wonder if that still applies. Ground wire would be too easy. I'll try that first with a test lead to see if it works.
Thanks Roland. I can find my way around most parts of the dvd, but always seem to get lost in the wiring diagrams.
I have only really kinda figured that part out recently. It's not too hard to navigate between pages and cells. I usually try to find something by component name in the wiring diagrams and then look from there.

Good for you Roland. I pay hell trying to figure out some of the simplest chit. Just not user friendly. Hope you get it sorted out Chris.

You will also want to ground the parking brake wire if you want the nav. to work without having to set the parking brake. There may be one other thing you have to do to get it to work correctly. I know on my Pioneer unit, which is a little newer, I had to move the mute wire in the harness to another spot and then ground it and the parking brake wire.
EDIT: Look here.....http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4670. There is a picture in the first post that tells you what to do. It looks like you don't have to ground the vss wire. Just move the mute and ground it and the parking brake.
