1986 F-150 ignition module

Can someone tell me the part number of any brand ignition module for a 1986 Ford F-150, fender mount? I have to order online and so far all the parts vendors catalogs are too confusing.
A recommendation for an online parts vendor with a catalog an ordinary human can read would also be appreciated.

The reason that you are having problems finding the fender mount module is that by 86 most of the engines had gone to a distributor mounted module. If there is a fender mounted module currently somebody may have changed it to the old duraspark 2 setup including a vacuum advance distributor. Which motor do you have in your f150? I just thought about it and most of my experience on this came on the 300 i6 or the 302 so it may be different on other motors.

Advanced Auto #CBE7Z $28.99
AutoZone #F102 $28.99
Napa #MPE TP40SB $27.99 or #MPE TP42SB $33.49

You should be able to just take your into one of the store listed above and they should be able to replace it , typically they have them in stock.

I wanted to buy this online because our local parts stores are price gougers. I did find a site that has an excellent easily readable catalog (rockauto.com) but then when I selected the right module for my year and engine (5.8L), fender mount, it turned out that the module they sell for it is NOT the right one, I could tell by the picture, the connector that should have four prongs has only two, and then a further Web search turned up a number of fender mount modules but they are all for the Windsor 4-bbl, which is not my carb. So I'll do a search for the part #s Swatter recommended and if they don't turn out to be right I'll give up and go pay too much locally. Thanks for your help!

I went to Autozone's site, they only list one 351w and that was the HO with the 4bbl.

I went to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and pretended I wanted to buy a engine for a 86 f150 2wd, and it only listed one 351w engine.

Look at the 8th digit on your VIN number. What is it? Here is what they list for 86.

4.9L (VIN Y, 8th digit), AIR in head
4.9L (VIN Y, 8th digit), AIR in manifold
5.0L (VIN N, 8th digit)
5.8L (VIN H, 8th digit, 8-351W)

P.S. I looked up a 1985 f150 and they do list 2 different 351w engines. You may have a very early 86 model, Ford was famous for doing things like that. Again, look at your vin and see if it matches any of them below. This is for a 1985 f150.

4.9L (VIN Y, 8th digit), AIR in head
4.9L (VIN Y, 8th digit), AIR in manifold
5.8L, VIN G (8th digit, 2BC, 8-351W)
5.8L, VIN H (8th digit, 4BC, 8-351W)
5.0L, VIN F (8th digit, carbureted)
5.0L, VIN N (8th digit, FI, port)

If it turns out this is what you have, then you just need to tell them to look up a 1985, or plug in a 1985 when you are online to get the right part.

Did anyone notice that Big-Dawg (post #5) is responding to a post that was typed 9/19/2009?!

DuraSpark remote mounted modules identified by a colored plastic square above where the wires feed out.

1976/89: Most common remote mounted module has a blue plastic square:

1U2Z-12A199-AA (replaced D6AZ-12A199-A ~ D8VZ-12A199-A ~ D9VZ-12A199-A) .. Ignition Module (Motorcraft DY-893) / Available from Ford.

A couple of different applications because the member in post #2 hasn't a single clue what he's talking about:

1981/89 F250/350 & E250/350 460 / 1981/89 F150/350, Bronco & Econoline 351W without CA emissions / 1984/89 E150/250 351W 4V without high altitude carb.

This module is marked with ID number: D6AE-12A199-A1A or A2A or A1B or A2B / D8VE-12A199-A1B or A2B or A1C or A2C
