LOL. Nothing like a dyno tune. And the time I save by not messing around with the laptop and street driving, and risking a ticket and trying to learn how to keep the AFR's in check without blowing up my engine is worth every penny. If you can't build a build at once then you're wasting time by doing little here and there. Not to mention, at the end of your self tuning you're gonna want a dyno run it anyway after everyone asks what it made and you respond "I dont know", or GUESS and lie about what you think it makes. LOL

I hear you. Some people can and some can't, pretty simple. Whatever works for you. LOL

No one "builds it once", it's always changing/evolving. And most "enthusiasts" don't feel that they're "wasting time" working on/improving their vehicles.

The dyno isn't the only place to tune, the drag strip works pretty well. Weight, and trap MPH allow you the calculate HP.

Most people who have no clue about tuning, who try to do it themselves cannot tune based on a a couple runs at at drag strip much less the countless hours of "street time". I have personally watched several people with very high IQ's (literally) who spend ridiculous hours trying to figure out the un-intuitive OBD-1 tuning. This isn't OBD-2 HP tuners on an LS motor. It's 1990's technology with limited aftermarket support. Go for it, LOL!!! Mean while, I'll be collecting my trophy's and having gobs of fun at the drag strip working on my launches, 60' times, etc...

I'm glad I have a skill level that allows me pleasure to do the technical things I can do with what I choose to work with regardless of result.

I have a basically stock Fox I could drop 10K in through Summit & run 9s'.

I'd get a bigger kick running a banger' in the Race Of Gentlemen if I could.

If you can't hack it (figuratively ) & don't want to deal with the primitive control, don't knock those who want to.

Particularly when it comes to cash outlay vs desire.

Just sayin'.

Thanks,I already have gone for it. Started when I was about 15 years old. Like I said, whatever works for you. If you can somehow make yourself feel better about paying someone to do something you can't,good for you. But working on my launches, 60tf times, and getting trophies at the drag strip in a vehicle I paid someone else to tune wouldn't do it for me. I'm not knocking anyone for paying for work on their vehicles, it was the tone of your replies that seemed to do just that about those that DO work on their own vehicles.

haha you guys are funny. Tuning is the ONLY thing that I pay to have done. So lets get that clear. Tuning is very important and must be done right and I'm just simply stating it's FAR EASIER and SAFER for someone who has never done it before to get it done right by a professional. I'm certainly not dissing anyone who wants to do it themselves. Trust me I'm a DIY guy to the bone but tuning is not worth it to me. Not to mention Megasquirt and others don't (or didn't years ago) have the support that I needed anyway. Such as, A/C idle control, SN95 electric fan controls, ETC. So why buy an inferior product, waste gobs of time, risk blowing up engine, NOT get to spin it on a $80,000 dyno, NOT get a sheet/video proving what it throws down. That's all. =)
