E350 P1000 diag not complete

I have a 1998 E350 with a 7.3 and keep getting a P1000 code for diag not complete any clues why this would happen or what may cause it to come up out of no where.

On gas engines it is a code that appears after the battery has been disconnected or other codes have been erased. It will disappear after a drive cycle has been completed. I would think diesels are the same.

Is this a delivery truck or something? A lot of stop and go driving may not be giving it enough drive time to complete the cycle.

This is the Drive Cycle required for my 2004 6.0L. I don't know how similar it would be to your 7.3, but it might give you an idea.

1. Key on. Do not crank until the WAIT TO START light cycles, or at least 10 seconds , whichever is greater.
2. Start the engine. Idle in PARK or NEUTRAL for 40 seconds .
3. The following outlines the appropriate conditions for running certain OBD monitors that require the engine to be under load:
a. Accelerate steadily to third gear (M/T use fourth gear) and hold at 1500 RPM for 3 seconds . Accelerate steadily from 35 mph to 65 mph over approximately 15 seconds (M/T 11 seconds minimum).
b. Repeat Step 3a three times while maintaining the conditions in Step 3a.
c. Before proceeding, turn all accessories off and disengage tow/haul.
4. Before continuing, EOT must exceed 60°C (140°F) .
5. Idle the vehicle for 20 seconds in PARK or NEUTRAL
6. Key off.
7. Start the engine. Idle in PARK or NEUTRAL for 40 seconds .
8. Rerun Quick Test.

I would ask in the 99 to 03 7.3 forum.
That will get you tons of help.

Diagnostic code 1000 indicates that operating conditions have not been satisfied for all the moniters to run.every time you check the codes if the pcm is not ready it will turn on code 1000. if you complete drive cycle then check it will not be there this code comes and gos as the pcm feels is needs it to.
