Dang it man!! lol i need positive reienforcement not negitive!! my friend is gonna help me out with it tomorrow, he knows what hes doing when it comes to trucks. Im gonna go ahead and change my wheel bearings and my u joints while its out, wish me luck!!
Good luck man. I know about changing them on a 2wd but I haven't gotten into the 4wd hubs so I can't help you there. I started trying to work on a 4wd hub on an 85 but I ran into the same problem with the hex bolts on that one. We didn't bother continuing as the 4wd was working fine and it was a friend's plow truck and he needed it back quickly.

Yeah i ended up drilling the head out and it worked perfectly, i pulled the cap off and unscrewed what was left over. I bought 10 of those bolts for 3 bucks lol exact same thing too
I would reccomend you get a service book for your truck. You could hurt yourself or your vehicle hammering on ball joints and drilling out bolts. With all the frustration you have experianced perhaps you should find a resonable shop to do that work?

on point 1 : yes you definately should if you havent already, its a wise 20$ investment
on point 2 : HELL NO, one of the reasons for this site is so we can figure stuff out for ourselves, and you're prolly just like me squeazing every nickel till it screams! plus if its already apart just get your buddy and Mr. Haynes or Mr. Chilton and kill it off
(disclaimer) wasent meant as a personal attack toward you harfend, just a friendly difference of opinion

True I am a nickel squeazer! But, like Clint Eastwood said: "A man has got to know his limitations" And this guy sounded like he was in over his head.
Harfend
Well, alot has went on the past 2 days. I got the hub off, i mis-understood where you guys were talking about, but its off. I have a haynes manuel for it, its junk when it comes to most stuff, but for this it was pretty good. And i also got my finiancial aid check friday, and i bought me a 94 Firebird for 1700 dollars,(Let the bashing begin lol) Its in great shape, 20k on a new motor. 3.4 so im not too over my head in it and custom exhaust. It runs like a charm. Im planning on fixing my truck later this week, and selling it. I already got offers for 1500. I love that truck, but im sure if i wanted one or needed one i would have to look hard to find it. I just needing something with a little better gas mileage, and looks good. And you cant do doughnuts in that truck haha, or burnouts for that matter.
