well, I've been looking into some wheel options for my 85 F150. I plan to lower the truck a few inches nothing major, I've been trying to find wheels around 17" maybe a inch or so larger or smaller. The bolt patter 5X5.5 does not seem to be very popular in the wheel world. Most of the wheels in that size look like they belong on a 80's model impala or a Hummer or something. None of the wheels would look right on the truck, need a classic but sporty set of wheels.
I've found a set of adapter that can go from 5.5 to 5 or even 4.5. Are these adapters a good idea? I've never dealt with them before and wanted to know your thoughts, or other options.
If you want to go classic and sporty you could always try to find a set of the old Magnum 500 wheels like they used on the old mustangs. There is also a newer version of it that was used on the 03-04 Mach 1 that could possibly fit, not sure about bolt pattern.
ever pick up a summit magazine? almost any wheel has a fitment for a 5X5.5 bolt pattern. the Ford 9" made the size popular.
try american racing, wheel pros or something.
FWIW, 5-139.7 is the same as 5X5.5
