Out with the old ?

I bought my 04 PSD brand new. Most every problem that he 6.0's had, i've had, and were covered under warranty. I love my truck. I'm thinking of a larger 5th wheel and a 1 ton truck. Do the new Fords have the same issues as the 6.0's ? I dont like what I hear about the DPF's and the complexity of the motor. I hear that they are strong, so I might leave it mostly stock. Can you still run a tuner with the new ones ? Still have EGR problems ? I have lots of homework to do......

Thanks,

The biggest issue I've heard about the new trucks with the 6.4L is that the mileage sucks. I don't know anything other than that. You may want to hit that forum and get some opinions there.

You might also want to wait and see what the new scorpion engine has to offer. I don't like 1st year engines but it might be a good reason to hold off for a year or two.

The 6.4's have a good rep for power (especially tuned) and seem to be reasonably reliable.

That being said .................. +1 on what 69cj said!!
I am anxious to see what the new engine will do!!

I talked to a guy from the rental company we use and he was in a 08 F-450. He told me the same issuse with the 6.0 in the 6.4. they have alot of trucks and most have been in the shop for EGR problems to no suprise. The 6.4 still uses the same head bolt pattern as the 6.0. So hopefully they made the bolts stronger!!

The head bolts are longer on the 6.4's. Most guys don't have head gasket problems until 600+ hp. I don't know much about their EGR problems but I have heard about radiator leaks that need to be fixed under warranty.
