got the turbo cleaned up and re-installed and everything seems good. good spool and virtually no lag. hey sarge, how can an over boost cause a low boost code?. i think i'm to easy on my truck when i drive it. i dont like to see it much above 2500 rpm's, maybe it's time to put some lead in my shoe..............thanks all for the advice.
I dont recall 100% what the tech told me but the PCM monitors the the boost peramiters and sets that code for low or high boost. Yes you need to "exercise" the turbo with your right foot every once and a while. I had the same issue, dont baby it these trucks shine when you work em. At any rate I am glad that you got it fixed and its running great for ya.
I was the guy last week with the new cap. It did cure my slight puking problem but beware.... Having a cap that holds 16psi made another leak present it self.
I have to say thanks to Partsman for pointing out the new cap! I had no idea there was such a thing.
I would also like to interject on the low boost. CLEAN THAT TURBO! I was surprised at how much better mine worked after a good bead blasting and bath. I diddnt think mine was sticking at all till I cleaned it and felt the differance afterword.
Take Care!

I had a worse case scenario following a second in 2 weeks po299 code. First trip to the dealership they replaced the center housing and cleaned the vanes on the turbo. Earlier this week one morning the idle started to fluctuate from 500-1100 rpms. As i was driving down the road( in heavy traffic) the engine died and i had to have it towed to the dealership again. They are replacing the turbo and i will see if that is the solution. This sucks.
my gut is telling me the same. I am leaning towards an electrical issue. My battery light started coming on at low rpms. i am not electrically savy by any means however.
It's possible that the batteries are too low to run the system. This should be interesting so please keep in touch. You might want to start a new thread to keep it separated or maybe one of our Mods can do that.
driving it today i had the turbo in every phase of boost imagineable, we'll see what happens when i pull something. after the cleaning it sounds alot better. way faster spooling too.divedeep1, i had my batts run down to about 8.5-9v one night driving home, and it also almost died on me and did the surge thing all because the feed wire on the pass.side batt. was loose. i hit a bump just right and it made contact and everything came back on, including the headlights. its no fun doing 75 in the dark with no headlights.
Dealer called this morning to let me know my truck is done. They replaced the SCT fitting and also said the unison ring on the turbo was seized which they also took care of under warranty.

Thanks for replying back. Why the STC fitting? Have a no start condition too?
They said it had a longer crank time to start than normal and that the STC fitting is a common problem on the 6.0. It starts to crack and leak internally causing a longer start time. They also replaced the unison ring in the turbo.
That's kewl. Sounds like you have a pretty competent dealership or tech you're dealing with. At least it'll be one less thing to worry about when you're on the road.
