went to dealer had new? flash installed. They said it would help cold start and take EBP out of line an use MAF or MAP sensor in place of EBP. So I would not have to clean tube or worry about EBP. From what I understand this sensor can cause turbo to overboost and cause HG problem's. Being a2003 with 100'000 + miles and my work truck I am trying to stay on top of anything that can cause a major problem. So far engine does start easier and sounds great crisp and clean. Still has serious TURBO LAG!!! when cold,[no throttle response, lots of blue fuel smoke] This is really bothering me becuse it has not even started to get cool down here. I can't help to think That FORD or IH did not do enough R&D That I would have to sit and wait 10 to 15 minutes every time I to leave to to a different job, which I happens several times a day. I am thinking about taking Turbo off and inspecting And cleaning. What do y'all think ? Thanks for the help.
blue smoke isn't good. if your truck was in good mechanical workings i would say maybe get a SCT or a BD Boost Builder to get rid of the turbo lag. all of our trucks have some lag. are the injectors original? how about the turbo and egr system? i think the blue smoke means oil is burning..
Yea trucks pulls and runs great after warm up. I have only had truck for 3 month, changed the oil twice ,check it every day, no signs of oil useage. Light blue smoke under light acceleration, but pretty good gray, black smoke if you push it, which I do'nt. Same Inj. I did a seach did not find any records showing inj. replacement. EGR disconnected ,Sorry whats SCT or a BD Boost builder?
I had turbo lag bad when I got my X and it only had 13,000 miles on it. With 100,000+ miles on your truck, I would suspect that the cat converter is restricted. That reduces exhaust flow and that causes turbo lag. When I bought my X one of the first things I did was to remove the cat. I got a cat delete pipe from MBRP. After I installed the delete pipe, about 50% of the lag went away. I installed a MBRP turbo back exhaust with no cat (use the previous cat delete pipe) and the rest of the lag was gone. My X is very responsive and the turbo really whines.
