Would it be possible to install the Racor CCV where this one is or is it too big?
I have the Racor CCV6000 and its about the size of a bathroom trash can, definately wouldn't fit in that location...the CCV4000 and CCV3000 series are smaller, but I'm not sure if they would fit either..I think they're all too large for this location in the engine compartment.

Thank you. Here is some information I found on the RACOR CCV's.
Sorry for the delay, been offline for a while. The set up has been working fine, no leaks, no vibration, etc. The worries about back pressure, while all valid and need to be kept in mind, I think are minimized by the way I installed. 1" Hose, very short runs (total hose length is less than 2 feet, both directions), I routed back into the intake. The filter I use has 3/4" fittings but I use copper fittings so restriction is minimized. The 1" hose fits and clamps very nicely on the outside of a 3/4" coupling. The inside of the separater I cannot see much if any restriction. It is Stainless screen so a lot of air can flow. It would be nice to measure the backpressure, but don't have a guage for that.
Thanks for the reply. Getting ready to do the exact setup you have accept I may opt for the 1 inch fitting model. I believe it is one inch wider and one inch taller but should still fit nicely in the location. Other companies make them with a clear bottom bowl as well so you can do a quick visual to see if it even needs to be emptied. The one inch model with a clear bottom bowl is about 10 bucks more. Have you checked it for oil collection? Curious to see if it separating the oil out of the vapor. So, the one inch tube clamps down okay around the factory 3/4 inch nipples with any issue? If so, that would make it even easier.
This Tractor Supply filter looks like a mesh filter for use in fluid systems to remove particulate matter down to around 50 or 100 microns. If that's the case, this is not going to remove oil from air.
Oil vapors in blowby gases condensate out through vapor cooling (which occurs during re-rerouted travel away from the dog house and motor). The mesh screen does not provide or need to provide any conventional filtration. The screen only provides a gas/air flow disturbance barrier to the cooling gas which passes through it. The mesh surface allows the heavy oil in the vapor mix a cling surface which runs to the lower and cooler bowl area. This is the same method and principle used with the common pot scrubbers contained in closed system CCV canisters. The scrubbers do not filter the gas vapors but provide the same disturbance barrier to the cooler oil vapor droplets which condensate out of the vapor mix.
Help me out here guys.
I have a 05 that I have routed to atmosphere about a foot behind the in frame fuel filter. Why do I need a filter strainer? I also have a 98 12valve dodge that came from the factory going straight down to atmosphere. On a long tow, i get a little of what looks like steam. ( I get it on both). Do you filter it just to make the Gorical happy?
I am just guessing here but I believe by filtering it, you are catching the oil that would end up all over your frame, undercarriage and driveway. Also alot of ppl have been complaining of the smell wafting into the cab when theirs are vented to atmoshere.
Hey guy's will someone refresh my memory....am I right in saying, the main reason for these ccv filters is in order to not mess up the driveway or undercarriage of the truck?.....I ran my 1" heater hose about 10 feet and it is hanging near the fuel tank...with no filter...should I be concerned about material...i.e "dust/dirt" getting into it???....I wouldnt think so but thought i would ask....and have I ran mine toooooo long?
Well, I do not believe that the filter will eliminate "smell" but maybe the oil is a real issue. I do not seem to have it though. If I stick my finger in the end of the hose, I have some residue, but no oil on the undercarriage or on the drive way.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
