Fuel Pump question for NumbersDummy
Anyway, there's a number of pumps on ebay, mostly rebuilt, which is to be expected. One lists the part number C3AZ-9350-A and says it's for a 63-64 223. Would that work on my 66 240/300?
If not, what exactly should I be looking for? The pump on there now is the AC type and AC part numbers I'm seeing are 404002 or 404003 for small 6's and 40427 or 40477 for the big blocks.
Thanks...Don't know what we'd all do without you as a resource.
There are five (5 !) different fuel pumps used on 240 engines alone: 1965/66.
Early or late production (before/after serial # 844,001) makes a difference, Carter ID numbers on the old ones, must be matched in some cases.
There are three different carbs used on 1965/66 F100/350's: Holley 1V / Ford 1V / Carter 1V.
A 240 is a big block 6 just like the 300, same block. 223 is the smaller one and wasn't available by '65. You would want parts for a 300 if you have a twin I beam truck, easier to find.
Is there some reason you'd like to use a 223 pump? If you're shopping on ebay, I typed in "ford 300 fuel pump" and they were all under $20 with most "buy it now"
This link has 5 available for $14.99 and a 30 day warranty.

Autozone can order them for $26.99 and even ship. Part # 60092

Also if you look at all the pictures, it would seem the difference in part numbers deals mostly with the fuel lines, some thread in some slip on, steel line, rubber line, etc... Find one that looks like yours or you can adapt your fuel lines to fit.

AC = Autoparts store replacement fuel pump. AC refers to Albert Champion, the former spark plug king. AC has been owned by GM for 80 + years.

C3AZ-9350-Y also replaced C5TZ-9350-A.
Fits: 1963/64 Galaxie 223 / 1965/72 F100/600 240/300 I-6 (except 300 Heavy Duty and trucks with air brakes).
1961/64 223 passenger cars, 1961/64 F100/600's with 223/262's used C2AZ-9350-H which replaced C2AZ-9350-G & C3TZ-9350-C.
1965/72 Galaxie/LTD's with 240's, 1965/ and later Econoline w/240/300's, other trucks with 240/300's used different fuel pumps.
The original 223/262/240/300 fuel pumps had either a glass bowl for a 1" ceramic or corrogated paper fuel filter, or a threaded on steel tomato juice sized can that used a 3" paper cartridge fuel filter.
The later replacement pumps do not have a fuel fitler mounted on the pump, so if using one on a vehicle prior to 1972, an inline fuel filter must be installed.
btw: Because Ford replaces 10's of 1000's of part numbers every
year, you cannot go by part number prefixes to ID what years you may think the parts fit. If for example, you needed a lug nut for a little deuce coupe, what is the part number?
It was B-1012, that was replaced by: B-1012-A, COAZ-1012-A, C9AZ-1012-A, E6DZ-1012-A and E8TZ-1012-A!

And...for another example, the 240/300 exhaust manifold was replaced EIGHT times between 1965 and 1983!
