fuel pump
Hey y'all this is my first post. I'm from anderson, Sc and I have a 73 f100 with the 240 i6. I noticed the other day that my fuel pump is covered with gas. It looks like its leaking from the bottom. Can anyone tell me how to change this fuel pump? Any help is appreciated

Rotate the engine to TDC, disconnect the lines (watch for fuel siphon), take out the two bolts, remove the pump, clean off the gasket surface (don't let anything fall into the block), put a little sealer on both sides of the new gasket, tack the gasket to the new pump, put the pump and gasket on the block, install the two bolts, install the two lines.
Are you sure the pump is bad, and the supply line isn't just loose? Any leak is going to look like it's coming from the bottom because of gravity. If your pump really is bad, change your oil after replacing the pump for good measure.

Ok that sounds easy enough. Is there anything inside the block that I have to worry about? I ask this because Ive never took one off before and I'm not sure how it works. What moves the little arm on the back of the pump? Thanks for ur help

Yes, that's why you rotate the engine to TDC first. An eccentric on the camshaft pushes the arm up and down. The eccentric puts the least amount of pressure on the arm with the engine on TDC. If not, it takes a lot of force to install the new pump.

Ah ok gotcha I was just wantin to make sure I didn't have to worry about anything falling in to the oil pan. But I'll take a look at the rubber lines around the pump to see if they are leaking. And I'll check and see if my oil smells like gas. Thanks for your help. I'll post back as soon as I get to look at those.
