Looking for computer tech help with Photobucket images
I think I noticed this problem right after I had my home computer reformatted. It had a booting problem, it wouldn't got past the start up menu so the computer guys fixed it. When I go onto a internet board, FTE, the HAMB or the Ford Barn it didn't matter where I could not see any images hosted on Photobucket, all other hosting services worked fine. I also could not see the Photobucket main site when I tried to go to it. I didn't have a Photobucket account so I joined, using my shop computer, in the hopes it might help or at least they might be able to shed light on the problem. Their suggestions didn't help. I still couldn't see the images or log on to their site. I searched the internet and followed all the advice that was suggested. I made sure my cache files were deleted, I even dug deep into the temp files via the searchoption because I knew there were a lot of files that weren't deleted when you do the IE delete. I used different programs suggested on computer geek web sites to fix registry files and fine invading programs, nothing worked. I switch to Firefox. I removed my Norton virus protection and installed Avast. I set up a new user profile on my computer and deleted the old one which wiped out my email files and favorites. Finally I found a computer site that suggested I visit this MicroSoft web page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956196
I followed every step and nothing changed until I got to Method 6. I updated the file they noted and I was able to see the Photobucket images on every board. But now I have the problem repeat every few days or so. When I do a System Restore to a point two weeks ago I can again see the images for a while and then it does it again and I have to do another System Restore. I have a feeling there is a bug somewhere but I can't find it with Bot searches, virus scans or adware scans.
One more thing. My son got a laptop a couple of weeks ago and gets his internet connect through the wireless router I have on my system, my computer is hardwired to the router, and he has never had this problem. He can get the images when I can't so I don't thing it's my internet service, which is Earthlink via RoadRunner. On a couple of web sites I found they suggested it could be a problem with the server but since my son can see the images while I can't I would assume it's got to be something with my machine.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

1. When you removed NAV, did you do the Norton Removal Tool thing?
Norton does not go away easily. Were you still subscribed when you removed it? If you were, there tech support will point you to a complete removal method -- and give you a new copy to reinstall if you'd like.
Note, I recently did a NAV reinstall because of a nasty problem. Norton stuff can get corrupted and you really want to make sure that you get it cleaned out.
2. If your link was correct, Method 6 involved updating drivers. Method 7 was restore and Method 8 was reset IE. (just checking)
3. Sounds like the next thing is to try is resetting IE (wow). I know that you said you went to FF, but who knows what IE might have enabled. If you decide to try that, you will want to copy down the way things are set up now. (tools/internet options) . Then after you reset it, you can start getting IE back to the way it was.
I take it that you're using IE8 -- I've heard nothing but bad about that.
Good Luck,
I did the reset thing, I thought I might have clicked on a box inside the options box, still no help. The guy from Photobucket suggested I insert the Photobucket in an allow site window, I don't remember how it's listed in IE but I did that and it didn't help. I've everything I could find to do. Everything short of some of the computer geek suggestions of going deep into the computer and start changing programing files. I won't do that, I don't know enough to do it and I know I'll screw something up.
I would take this PC back to whomever "fixed" it and demand they correct the issue since, apparently, something they did didn't come out right - and I would demand they do it free of charge since the PC did not work at 100% when you got it back from them.
Just my thought....
You said Method 6 fixed it.. That is update the driver for the Network card..
First I would try uninstalling the Network card and reinstall it..
Goto device manager then select the network adapter. Just hit delete on the keyboard to remove it..
Next goto the action menu in device manager... Select scan for hardware changes..
The network adapter will be reinstalled..
If that doesn't fix it then try updating the Network adapter driver..
If all else fails get a new network adapter...
