code 0683

Through code 0683 today. I know it has to do with the glow plugs, but does anyone have specifics on this code? Your help is appreciated.

P0683 Glow Plug Control Module to PCM Communication Circuit

that is what the code means, but i don't know exactly what would cause it

I am guessing it is the finned module on the right valve cover. I have new, less than 1oo miles, glow plugs. The light went away for about that 100 miles then came back. Had the codes read, 0683. My guess would be the relay or this module. Module first. Of course I am sure Ford is proud of it$$$$$$$$$.

well it sounds like the circut from the pcm to the module is not working. look for broken or chafed wires that might be the problem.

crazymut, your GPCM is probably bad. Check the wiring and harnesses first but if all of that is in good order, you are going to need to replace the GPCM. Parts guy Ed has them for about $120. There is no Glow Plug Relay on your truck.
