Ok so my friends dad just recently pulled the cam out of his 302 powered 65 Comet and put a new cam for the blower he just got. Anyqays the cam he pulled out is a comp cam hyd. flat tappet cam with 260 duration(I'm not to sure on the duration I can't remember but I know it's not extreme) and 512 on the lift. I just got finish a couple weeks ago pulling the motor out of my truck and rebuilding. I was wondering how good this cam would work in my truck. I have roughly the same set up they did. (289 heads, professional products typhoon, he had a ford motorsports, Edelbrock 600, and stock block.) Another difference is my truck is auto.
If they're both carbed motors it should work fine and be an upgrade.. I'm thinking there are no stock cams with that much lift even if they have similar duration.

Ok good, just wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to any thing else to make the cam work with the truck. Anyways I'm getting cams, lifter, and pushrods for 150, but my friends gonna talk his dad down to 125.
Don't know what your valve springs are like but you might want to upgrade them. Be sure you get the firing order correct too, many cams use the 5.0L HO/351 firing order instead of the standard 289/302 order.
