I've got a what could be a timing issue, but I'm open to suggestions for other areas. I've got a 460 with DOVE-C heads, port-matched stock intake, mild crower cam, Holley Truck Avenger 670cfm carb, and L&L fenderwell exit headers. I'm running about 12 degrees timing. It runs strong with no hesitation, and always fires right up hot or cold. The problem is when it's warm it will run over (diesel) when I shut it off. Sometimes just for a second, sometimes for a while. Very annoying to say the least. I've messed with the timing some, but it doesn't seem to do any good. I haven't mess with the carb. yet.
mine was doing the same thing because the motor was running hot. not overheating but, just running hot. i got underneath the truck and scraped a 1/4 inch layer of gunk off of the oil pan, valve covers, intake, and transmission. pressure washed it, and brought the timing down to 8 degrees like it should be. no more hot motor, and no more deiseling.
