I have a 95 F150 5.0 Auto 2WD and both fuel tanks leak.It looks like they are rusted on the bottom where the straps contact the tank.My question is can I remove one tank and still drive the truck. As you know things don't always go as planned.Tools needed, unforseen parts to replace, etc.I really hate taking 3 trains to work.I quote Homer Simpson ,"Public Transportation is for losers."Just kidding but it is a royal PITA.Thanks for any help.
And plugging the lines isn't that hard if you're handy with a grinder, get a couple studs, cut the threads off 1 end and shape the nut so it can be retained with the clip on the fuel line. The clip at the tank is not exactly as shown and you will need 2 different sized studs for the send and return lines.
How do you remove those clips/fuel lines from the fuel pump? I figured out how to release the clip, but I couldn't pull the fitting off the metal tube coming from the pump in the tank...
You have to use a release tool.
Spray WD-40 in first, then twist the line to brake the "O" ring free.
Push the line on more and while holding it there push the tool all the way in.
While holding the tool in pull the line off.
There are two different size lines so you need to different size tools.
