Sometimes when I flip on the vent and blower, I get a diesel smell through the vents in the truck.
Where does the air that gets pumped through the vent sstem in the truck come through? Does it come in the cowl vents, then through the blower and then into the cab?
Is there any part of the ventilation that could be exposed somewhere under the hood?
I kinda like the smell, but think in the long run, it would be better for me and my passengers if it was not coming into the cab.
I see this thread is a bit old, but I am having a similar problem, but my smell is more like burnt oil. My truck doesn't burn very much oil if any, but when I stop and I have my blower running it smells like burnt oil. Is there a remedy for this problem? If its coming through the cowl, maybe (just a thought) there is hose, vent, or something similar leaking, and when I come to a stop it is rising up and coming in the cowl. No smell with blower off. Thanks.
Will do, thanks. It must be a pretty small leak, I think I have the only IDI that has the same amount of oil in it as it did when I changed it. LOL. So many talk of burning oil and leaks. I am sure mine will start at somepoint, only 117k miles at the moment. Thanks.
mine has an oil leak and it drips onto the crossover pipe near the back of the oil pan. Smells bad outside of the truck but never inside. sounds as though there is a leak somewhere letting the smells in!
