INJECTOR problem ??? ( cause miss ?? )
"ROUGH IDLE"
1994 f-150 / 1/2 tn / 2wd / 5 spd / w-o air / just replaced stock motor , 6 cyl. 300 Y 4.9L MFI complete long block. runs great in general. now have 56 miles on new motor & when started all seem's great , sound , feel , look BUT !! after initial start up ( about 30-45 second's) the idle drops & a rough idle condition now exsist's.. i have done multiple check's on vacum , NO leaks . timing is set at 10* BTDC with all vacum plugged & spout pin connector removed. timing is perfect from what i can tell ( original dist. used / TFI-IV with remote mounted ICM module) I AM LOST .. truck ran great before with old motor ( motor replaced due to damage from wrong water pump installation - bolt thru #1 cylinder) , anyway,, even performed self test by jumping EEC-IV self test ( STI) system on board. and only got 2 codes , 111 system pass & 522 Vehicle not in PARK or NEUTRAL during KOEO. HUMM..............even tried both advance & retard timing from spec , but no difference in correcting condition... any & all help would be welcome.. before i must take to dealer shop... please post here or for faster result's PLEASE e-mail me @ coorslight4u@attbi.com..... or even phone help ( i pay long distance),,, thank you ...............MICHAEL
"UPDATE to ROUGH IDLE (16 post ago)"
i have noticed two things since my previous post ............. sounds more like a dead miss a friend ( who is a mechanic, but not expert in fuel injection ) thought... so i played around with that thought , and found that if i unplug the fuel injectors one at a time , a considerable difference in idle is a result of unpluging each , with the exception of # 3 injector,, humm must be a proglem with # 3 ij. , (yes the volt's to it is correct or at least same as rest), now i did clean the injector's & rail , when re-installing on new motor, new o-rings the whole nine yards .. maybe i lodged something in side of it instead of getting it out ? , if i want to test it off the truck, how to hook power to it ? straight 12 batt. ? i don't think so ,, don't want to burn it up yet either ... also it appears as if # 3 plug is wet when i remove it , i have tripple checked the gap & condition of all pluges even re arranged them from one cyl. to another . and # 3 is still comimg out slightyly wet ?? also if i unplug the # 3 wire , it as well makes no difference really,, yes it is fireing , se a spark jumping frim tip os screw in end to frame,,, anyway , it must have something to do with # 3 cylinder,,, but what ????? going to get a compression & leak down test done... it is just a real drag with new motor that other then roughness is great feeling & sounding, also going to clean the entire throttle body component & upper intake completely.... will wait for your help... or post any updates ... remember my e-mail is " coorslight4u@attbi.com ",, please be sure to read my first post,,,,
in close i believe that the # 3 IJ is not sending correct amount of fuel, maybe too much , that would explain the wet plug... any other idea's ?? i have been doing alot of cross reference on part numbers , and found many years of truck's & van's same part number , so i am going to my local "pull-a-part" , and get a few IJ"s in morning & will try them out , before I go & buy a new one ,, my local shuck's & napa are about even $50.00 each... ,,, will post fix if i find it...
