Another straight pipe question...
A guy that I work with has a 97 SC LB (7.3 obviously) that has a muffler delete pipe. My question is this: If I do the same, will it sound the same? With my truck idling with his side-by-side, his exhaust is louder, but my engine is louder. As I said, both have the factory exhaust (minus his muffler). Both engines are stock. His has 114K on the clock, mine has 165K.
I owned a 97 in the past, and now have a 2000 7.3.....they sounded different, even though both had straight exhaust. Part of that reason is there isn't an intercooler on the 97. If you're looking for louder.....a free mod is the foil delete on the pipe. Next step up the budget ladder is the Wicked Wheel....although it won't change the sound much at idle
I wondered if the intercooler would make any difference. I do plan on doing the foil delete at some point. With my business it's just hard to find time to take the truck out of service for any length of time. So do you think the exhaust would be about the same volume even though it will have a different sound somewhat? The volume of his truck I can definitely live with. Sure sounded good.
