My wife and I are leaving tomorrow morning for TN. The doctors taking care of my father-in-law told my mother-in-law that it's time for us to come back. Things just do not look good.
Rob, prayers are said for you, your wife, your baby and your mother in law and your father in law. have a safe trip and keep us informed if you can. If you need anything call me I will pm you my cell phone number.

Just a quick update before I pack the laptop. It has been determined that, during one of the last radiation treatments my FIL underwent, it appears that one of the radiation "beams" may have struck a blood vessel, triggering a stroke. The stroke was mild enough to take over 2 weeks to finally show up on an MRI. Unfortunately, it damaged the left side of the brain. The prognosis is bad; if my FIL can pull out of his sleep-state, he will not remember anyone or anything. My MIL has now listed him as a DNR (do not resusitate). We have been told to pack for a funeral, and are of the impression that he will likely pass in a matter of days.
I thank you all for the thoughts & prayers you have offered to this point, and for all of your thoughts & prayers in the future. My wife is doing as well as can be; I think the baby is a good distraction for her. God works his miracles in small ways, that's for sure.
I'll try to update things at some point this week.
My father-in-law passed away at 7:15 this morning.
The negative effects of the stroke took a huge toll on his brain's ability to run the body. His breathing started to get rough yesterday midday, and this morning he peacefully left us. He was 3 weeks shy of his 58th birthday.
My mother-in-law is holding up very well, though I know the next few days are going to be the hardest. My wife and her brother are also doing quite well, considering the circumstances.
Rob, my condolences to you and the family, if you need anything don't hesitate to call me or post it here and we as a group can help.
more prayers said for the family.
The funeral service yesterday was jam packed. It was quite a tribute to my father-in-law. Something I really liked: three of the guys who worked for my FIL and BIL's heating & air company brought the company trucks to the funeral, and drove one behind the other in the procession to the cemetery. I thought it was a great idea.
All of the extended family from out of town has now left, except for my wife & I. We'll stay until Thursday. Hopefully my wife & MIL don't kill each other by then; they can be like oil and water sometimes. I'm going to do my best to stay out of the way.
Take care of AZ for me. I can't wait to get back so that my sinuses can dry up!
Hi, Rob. I am new to the forum but your situation tugged at my heart strings. Probably, because I had never lost anyone close to me until my mother passed away two years ago. I don't guess I will ever get over thinking of her everyday. It is too bad your Father-In-Law wasn't able to see your baby!
