leaking intakes

In diagnosing my very low boost pressures this weekend I just sprayed some soapy water around my intakes and on all the boots and clamps while my son held the throttle down. I saw a lot of bubbles around both intakes on the top edges. Not big major leaks but enough I guess to account for only 10 psi max boost. Or does it take a lot more than this to drop my pressure that much?

I haven't had the intakes off one of these since the one and only one I overhauled at the ford dealer back in 96. Am I correct that they are just glued on? or was there a gasket?
I assume it's supposed to be the gray ford engine silicone if it's glued but is there an aftermarket alternative to Ford. I absolutely have going to the stealership these days. I am able to buy parts at a discount at the international dealer though.

From what I understand the Wacker sealant is used. Motorcraft TA-31 or F5TZ-19G204-AB from what I could find. Was just looking for a source this morning. International carries it too about $17.00 for 5oz. I haven't found a online source for the Motorcraft. I was going to call Ed in the A.M.

The intake plenums are sealed with the Wacker sealant and you can get it from IH. On the tube it says T-442 RTV Silicone Rubber 1 830 858 C1 There's a good chance that you will ruin the intakes when you take them off if you're not real careful. That stuff seals real well and you'll have to pry them loose every bid of the way.. I destroyed the stock ones when I took them off to put on the 3 inchers and did the same thing to the 3" when I took them off to put on the aluminum ones.

I have two good stockers if you happen to damage one.
A gasket scraper and alot of detail and you can get them off without damaging them. They are definately easy to damage. Be careful and good luck.

Are there any good aftermarket ones with thicker flanges that fit on a stock engine? If there is then I'll order them instead of fixing these today.

All the aftermarket plenums are 3" and in the neighborhood of $500.
