Paint question for my 1973 F-250 original...
1973 Ford F-250 original with two tone green paint, (Limestone Green and Winter Green, I think), and surface rust starting on hood and near secondary gas tank filler. I'd like to paint the same factory colors, to be original as best.
#1- The molding is in solid condition, but the metal looks oxidized, can I get it back to shiny or how will it look with fresh paint?
#2- Quote of $3500 to paint and touch up dings with 10 year warranty from the shop that does all the Chevrolet dealership jobs in Riverside California. Seems like a lot. No dents, but I suppose the dings may show up a little more with a fresh shiny paint... Assures me that any rust on vehicle will be addressed and it will look just like the original sales date in 1973. Any thoughts???
#3-This truck is the type that gets used occasionally as a truck and driven weekends and left outside uncovered. It is all original with 33000 miles on vehicle and I am the second owner. I do love the truck, but I guess I am looking for the balance of a nice looking truck that won't rust and having a truck that I will have to build a garage for because it looks so nice. Any ideas? Has anyone actually gone with MAACO in this type of situation?
#4- I have the old grey metal step bumber with tow ball. Any ideas on where to get a replacement and how much I should look to spend?
Thanks in advance for answering. The truck is the one in my avatar...Robert
