DEAD MEAT!! Now I'm stumped.
DEAD MEAT!! Now I'm stumped.
OK folks, heres a good one for ya. My wifes 03 excursion (6.0 PSD) wouldn't start a couple of weeks ago. It acted like a low battery so I jumped it and it started right up. No issues for about a week until it did it again. This time it would not jump start so out came the battery charger. After a couple o0f hours on the charger it started again. Alls well for a few days untill it fails to start again. Just clicks but won't turn over. I found at that point that the passenger side battery would not take a charge, so off to the parts store and home with a new battery. Now it gets interesting. When the new battery goes in and wife tries to start it ALL gauges sweep back and forth so she shuts the key off and waits a minute. Then, when she tries to start it again everything is completely dead! No lights no power at all. Its as if the batteries were disconnected. All cables are tight and both batteries are up. But Ive lost all electrical to the entire vehicle.
I'm stumped...anyone have any ideas ??

while sometimes replacing one works...
usually best to replace both batteries -
your weak one may have driven the other one down to it's knees and it gave up the ghost too..
And I KNOW you checked the fuses and continuity, right ?
and got a good battery and the right battery and connected it properly, right ?
no offense, just askin', cuz I have seen empty gas tanks be misdiagnosed too
get the ole' voltmeter out and start tracing the juice to the starter, to the everything....
good luck !

I had a similar issue before. It turned out that one of my batteries were dead. If you are changing batteries, change them both because what Motor-T told me was that if one is dead it'll bring down the other. Change out both batteries. Yes even the new one, it should have a warranty on it anyways. After I changed my Batteries out, it starts up every time.
Have you looked in the fuse box under the hood, drivers fenderwell,,,some big fuses and relays in there,,,maybe you fried some of them,,,seems odd that it is completely dead now,,,does nothing.
Probobly should have checked/replaced battery when it first acted up,,,jumping/arcking/draining batterys on newer trucks can reak havoc on lots of stuff,,,,FICM I have heard can be toasted by just what went on,,,,Good Luck,,hope you find the problem.

Well folks, you all were right again. The one battery not replaced was dragging the new battery down to nothing. Replaced the second battery and everything is well once again.
