Brake Shoes
Guess I should have stated a little more in my original post. Fixing it in the rain didn't put me in the best mood when I was posting.
This truck, while bought cheap enough has been nothing but replace parts . Drivetrain seems ok so far the fluid change was done as soon as I got it home. When I say fluid I mean every one. Oil looked like tar and the tranny fluid looked like muddy water. Diffs were both low. e.t.c. Plus we had the whole stacked block lift issue. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...uper-duty.html
Don't ask me how I missed the brakes being an issue. I got hung up on the really obvisous stuff I guess. It seemed to stop fine, until the other day when a genius in a Prius stopped, and I mean came to a complete stop, in the middle of the freeway right in front of me. because he missed his exit an got confiused, I was right behind him with a dump trailer loaded from remodel job on the way to the dump.
Let me tell you it gets scary fast when there are no rear brakes and you have 8000 lbs in a trailer behind you and no place to go except the shoulder and you're doing 70. In hind sight I have good insurance I should have just taken him out and saved someone else the trouble.
On the way back from the dump I picked up a shake in the front end, after just doing ball joints I assumed something had come loose. Not so much, it was a hub going south. So we now have new hubs to go along with the 4 new rotors and calipers, I decided since I was this far I might as well just go ahead and do the calipers too while I had it apart.
On the rears the entire e-brake assembly is missing on both sides, and btw both sides looked the same. Here is an IPB of the assembly for those that don't know. Price from Ford is something like $334. per side for the "kit". While I'm a believer in e-brakes, you get that way after you break the parking pin in a tranny once, I think I'm going to deal with the miss I've picked up when it's under load first.

The PO sold it as "I just did the brakes about a 1000 miles ago" knew it was B.S. but brakes are just a wear item that you know you are going to have to replace when you buy a vehicle so I didn't pay much attention.
The rotors or whats left of them weren't welded on, they were just kinda floating on the e brake bracket, which is the only piece of the assembly left and it's mangled. I'll get some after pics up later for anyone who's curious.
Oh, and yes it did make some noise, which I wrote off as blown shocks since he used the original length shocks with the 5 inch lift. They were hitting the neat fake duals that the genius took the spare tire off to run too.So on bigger bumps I had all kinds of banging and thumping back there.

Go check the rear of an 89-97 90's t-bird or cougar or Mark VIII with four-wheel discs. They work very well. The only gotcha is you need to spin the piston back in when you replace the pads/rotor. And that's easy with an open-end wrench of the appropriate size. I bought the "special tool" for it but it turns out an open-end wrench works much better.
As to the original poster, YIKES!
Looks like you need a caliper, pads, rotor, and e-brake shoes, and hopefully the rest of the e-brake linkage is there.
Actually, it's a "parking brake"

My 1992 Taurus SHO had them. Worked great for about 15 yrs. And that's a 20+ yr old design as they came out in '89. Then I started having trouble. They use a ratcheting piston mechanism to keep the pad close to the disc so the ebrake works.

Seems like the advantage of the drum e-brake inside the disk (in the case of our trucks at least) would be that if you cooked a disk - the drum might still work, not to mention that it's a little more protected if you're wheelin'. Don't think I've ever seen the drum/hat go before though. :-)
