Intercooled turbo

Just wondering, has anyone tried and had any joy intercooling, (either air to air or water to air) their 7.3 turbo IDI engines? Just curious.

I was gonna add an intercooler, but the project fizzled out because I'd have to take half the front end apart to put it in there and I have to drive my truck too often to do that.

only air to water intercooler i have saw was a guy on oil burners and something happened and now hes selling everything i cant remember what happened to his truck, but there is quite a few people that have intercooled it helps alot

Thanks guys for your replies, I think I might try to intercool "Big Red" when I get a chance one day , she should really pump and flex then!!!

What kind of temperature difference is occurring with intercooled vs non-intercooled?

not sure on the IDI trucks, but when I added one to my 1997 ford, my temps under load went down about 100F. I had installed the banks intercooler.

I am suprised that there is much talk about an intercooler for this truck.

I cannot get mine hot. I have never seen temps above 900 and that is with the probe pre-turbo and lugging the motor under full throttle to try and heat it up.

Maybe I could use more fuel
