Well I finally got enough together to order my DP-Tuner F6 but only could afford 3 tunes, 40 & 60 tow and decel. I want to get better gauges as well, but have been using the gauges on my Edge 1120. I am led to believe that the readings which come from the PCM are not as accurate as are stand-alones. So who makes the best gauges?
Also I want to use the same manifold fitting i used for the Edge EGT probe but can't figure out what it was. The manual says "Drill a 5/16” hole, then use the pipe tap to cut the threads. Use a 1/8” National Pipe Tap". It doesn't make sense that I would drill a 5/16" hole in the manifold and then tap with a 1/8" tap? Can anyone shed any light on that? Thanks
You are going to really like it, but you need to at least try the 80E tune as soon as you get the F6 installed. I believe NPT 1/8 inch threads are the type of threads vs. the size of the hole. It confused me as well when I did mine, but I don't recall what the solution was. It was over 2 years ago. I am a fan of the Isspro EV2 gauges, but there are a bunch of good ones. I hear that Autometers are easier to install than the Isspro's.
It's a size "R" drill bit, and pipe threads are specified for the ID of the pipe. 1/4" NTP uses a 7/16ths hole. 5/16ths is probably close enough for the 1/8" NPT, but I suggest you use the exact bit if you can to avoid any issues.
Thanks all. Another question: The under dash mount looks the cleanest, but I would guess it's awkward to read the gauges down there. Anybody have that set up?
Congrats Gary! I'm not too far behind you on the DP. My 4" MBRP should be arriving later in the week. I'm thinking the lower dash gauge mount might be too low as well. I'm going towards the dash bezel set up for boost and pyro. Something else to consider anyway.
You will only regret not getting it sooner. I like all 12 of my tunes and still trying to figure out what to put in the other 4 spots. Then, when you get a chance to have a live tuning session with Jody, well, then it's perfect!
Take a look at the A-Pillar install. I did mine a few months back and found it to be very straight forward. The gauges are right there and very easy to read on the fly. They look awsome at night, the green color pretty closely matches the green on the dash gauge display. Diesel Manor was great and the instructions were very thorough.
Next month I'm getting my DP for my trip to Illinois this Fall.
