Well I drove home from one of my classes at college today and low and behold the truck has antifreeze all over in the front... I cannot tell where its coming from other than its dripping down from right at the front cover. I know its not the radiator. Is this a common problem? I think its the water pump, but am not sure. Is there a common problem with these trucks spewing coolant in the front....
Guess I get to borrow a Duramax to pick up the race car today 90 miles away and also to get it to the track this weekend...
i'd pull the belt off and check the pump for play. I would bet its shot if its original. Please check it right away and get a new pump and put it on. The last thing you want to do is borrow a duramax. I just changed mine a week and a half ago in two nites so I could haul my race car 170 miles to a track. I can't stress enough you don't want to borrow a chebby.
Check the weep hole on the water pump when they start to go this is where they well leak the weep is on the bottom of the water pump if it is the water make sure to get a new thermostat housing to. when i changed mine my old one housing leaked if you need help with water removal there is a good thread going now and for gods sake don't borrow a duracrap
There is play in the pulley its self... But I have already borrowed the duramax... and let me tell you... thing is NICE... Dont get me wrong, I love my OBS Powerjoke, and always will... but it is just that, its a Powerjoke...
I have never been a fan of GM products, but the duramax diesel is one of the few i would not mind having... got a decent engine, a great tranny, and a respectable (not great) chassis.
I am one that has a shirt that says Ford or mustang on it everyday, but this truck has impressed me. We will see how it does towing.
I wish I had the money to fix this truck tonight, but i wont for about a week... so thats the reason on borrowing the duramax.
I know you're a ford guy but good god don't brag up a duramax pile of @#$%^&* on this site. Great tranny? Not when combiined with the duramax. Wanna be chassis. Wanna be truck. Real ford guys don't brag up the competition. lol I know when you're racing that mustang you love beating them chebbys. I sure do. FORD period.
