Jim, what a tremendous help!! 2 nails where fed into the chamber at the same time, likely indication something is wrong with the nailer. There were couple occasions when the nailer fired off 2 nails one after the other. Decided to try and dislodge the nails and ended up disassembling. Able to remove the nails but spent most of the night trying to fiqure out how this damn tention spring for the nail feeder went back together. Finally gave up in wee hours of the morning. The link to the parts list u provided answered my question. Anyhow, reassembled and intend testing some time this morning. Bookmarked the parts source, although have purchased replacement parts for my demolition hammer directly from Hitachi parts division. Unable to open the second link because it requires the adobe reader probably end up putting out the bucks, did not realize most of the files I download are in pdf. Again thank you.

Dave I meant by my post that I had read the PDF manual from Hitachi's website for you - because you said you couldn't view it.
If two nails are trying to feed at the same time I would warn you not to use short strips of nails (5 or less) and to be careful when you reload, that the heads of the new strip ride over those remaining in the magazine.
This is important, or the driver will try and strip both nails at once....
Glad you were able to get the ribbon spring back into place on the follower.
Edit:
Bounce firing, where one nail shoots right after another is because you are trying to hold the gun down against the recoil. The gun rises just enough for the nosepiece safety to disengage and the pressure you're putting on the gun depresses it again. This is how we nail off sheathing and shingles quickly.
Later guns like my NR 90 have a "selective fire" lever that will allow only one shot until you release the trigger. According to Hitachi's website your A2 variant has this feature as well.... (link) Hitachi Power Tools
You don't have to disassemble the gun when a nail jams. Remove the remaining nails in the gun then use a 3" cut nail to knock it back inside the track, tip the gun over and give it a few shakes and the nail should fall out. My Hitachi doesn't like 2 3/8" nail for some reason so I have to do this quite often. Then I break out my Paslode and do it without problems lol.
Ford six, thanks downloaded with no problems, ow able to read the manuals, really appreciate the link.
2fords, it came down to having to disassemble, both nails where seized and even with the gun apart I had a heck of a time getting the nails out. I eventually would probably have to learn how to disassemle, learned quite alot in the process. Tried a few shots this morning and seems to be working well. Using 3 1/4" nails, not sure if the problem but change to another brand of nails.
Jim, this is a first for using a nailer, change from 'bounce' to single fire, believe it's more operator error than the nailer and likely matter of getting use to. Intend to use most of the day Sunday and should get a feel how the nailer works.
Hate to beat a dead horse and hope to put this thread to rest, purchased a Hatachi roofing nail gun along with box of nails, hatachi 7/8-.120 galvanized smooth shank nails and now told the asphalt shingles require a large flat head nail, not sure about the source. My question is there a roofing gun specifically for these large flat head nails or can I use the box of nail I purchased, if not, need to return the nails and start building up muscles in my arm. Appreciate any input!!
